Workshop on 'Women Empowerment in the context of Uniform Civil Coode'
Jagran Lakecity University's School of Law organized a national level workshop on 'Women Empowerment in the context of Uniform Civil Code'.
The workshop was divided into four technical sessions which were chaired by reputed personalities from different spheres of society. Each session had noted academicians, social activists, advocates and post-graduate students in the form of resource persons.
First technical session had Smt. Archana Sharma, a social activist based in Bhopal as the resource person. She spoke on the issue of intra familial relationship in recent family trends.
In the second technical session Dr. Mona Purohit, Associate Professor at Barkatullah University, Bhopal, spoke on the issue of property rights of women. She conducted a thorough analysis of property rights of women belonging to various religions.
The third technical session involedseveral renowned personalities including Chief Guest of the workshop Smt. Santosh Khanna, Editor-in-Chief of the quarterly journal 'Mahila Vidhi Bharati' and Smt. Shibani Ghosh, social activist, World of Women (WOW). They spoke on divorce and maintenance issues. Various contemporary socio-legal issues pertaining to the interests of women were discussed at great lengths. The session was chaired by Prof. Mayur Shikha Agrawal from the State Law College, Bhopal.
The last session was by Advocate Sangeeta Moharir (currently practicing at the District Court Bhopal), was based on the recent trends and developments in various family laws and the impact on the society of such trends.
The interactive response from the participating delegates, dignitaries and students was appreciable. The workshop received a favourable feedback from the participants. More such educating and enlightening events are expected in the future which will help the students to gain more knowledge in their respective fields.
