On 16th September, 2015 students of Jagran Lakecity University's School of Humanities and Arts got the opportunity to visit the Composite Regional Centre (CRC) for Persons with Disabilities, a service modality set under the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Government of India. Persons having different disabilities like Locomotor Disability, Blindness, Low-vision, Hearing Impairment, Mental Retardation, Mental Illness, Leprosy Cured, Cerebral Palsy, Autism Spectrum Disorder and Multiple Disabled of all ages are served by the Centre. Students got the opportunity to meet differently abled individuals and saw the facilities provided to them. The students got a lot of information on this tour by interacting with the staff members of CRC including audiologist, clinical psychologist, occupational therapist, orientation and mobility Instructor, physical medicine and rehabilitation specialist, physiotherapist, rehabilitation officer, special educationist, speech and language pathologist . According to them, "Persons with disabilities are not suffering from some kind of disease as the basic notion is." This was a very practical exposure where the students learnt how different life is and how one should deal with all the problems with a smile. People with disabilities have abilities too which can be understood and enhanced by the trained counselors and teachers to ensure that those abilities blossom and shine so that all the dreams people have can come true.
