Women Cell of Jagran Lakecity University organised an igniting mind lecture on the topic 'Cyber Crime and safety laws in the digital world' at its Mugaliyachap campus Bhopal.
The Program was graced with the presence of women luminaries from the field of administrative services and Cyber Cell to share knowledge on the subject. The guest speakers were Ms. Aruna Mohan Rao, Additional Director General of Police (Crime Against Women) Bhopal and Ms. Anita Kadam Cyber Expert, Technical Head and Finger Print Expert with Madhya Pradesh Police. The guests on the occasion addressed the audience of students and faculty of the University and shared their experiences, views and suggestions on the issue of Cyber Crime and Women's safety. Ms. Rao focussed upon the legal provisions made to deal with the issue and the technological advancements made by police department in the cyber space. It was highlighted by her that while problems exist in the digital world on account of various types criminal activities, much has been done to address the issue. She discussed about the helpline numbers, online applications that have come into place, and also made the audience aware of the mechanisms easily accessible to all for quick and real time prevention of any crime.
Ms. Anita Kadam enlightened the audience about the technical aspects of cyber crime and how attackers can operate on internet in disguise. Her talk was very instrumental in educating students about the do's and don'ts for a safer cyber experience. She shed light on the functioning of viruses, malwares and various types of criminal activity that can take place online and how to deal with them. Ms. Kadam also elaborated on how phishing and spoofing happens and the role of antivirus in the cyber space. It was an interactive session where students got their queries resolved on the ways through which they can keep mobiles and laptops free from the attack of any criminal activity and precautions to be taken for the same. The Women Cell is confident that the program has enhanced the understanding and importance of safety in the digital world not only within the campus of the University, but at all times and places through its students and faculty.
