Jagran Lakecity University's School of Commerce and Economics & Banking and Finance organized an Igniting minds Lecture on "Gandhian Economy and its Contemporary Relevance for Modern India" on 31st January 2017. The Speaker for the lecture was Mr. Vineet Kapoor, IPS, State Coordinator Police research, Training and Police Cell, MP Police HQ and Superintendent MP Police Academy who is also an alumni of London School of Economics. Prof. Dr Anoop Swarup, Vice Chancellor, JLU introduced the topic of the lecture to the students by explaining the implication of Gandhian Economy for today's youth.
Mr.Vineet Kapoor started the explanation of the famous quote "Majburi Ka Naam Mahatma Gandhi" and related it with Gandhiji's half naked fashion and later explained the Gandhi's Talisman approach. The areas he highlighted were the principle of non-possession and trusteeship, Sarvodaya, the right to earn livelihood and dignity of labor. He further shed light on the life of the tiller of the soil and the handicraftsmen (Village industries and Swadeshi), Industrialization or Khadi and Village Industries. Mr. Kapoor also highlighted the various social sins according to Gandhiji's political thoughts. Summing up his presentation he concluded his thoughts by speaking about the contemporary relevance of Gandhian economy in fair trade, environmentalism, self sufficiency, organic farming, small scale development and non pollution etc.
