On 15th September 2015, Jagran Lakecity University's School of Humanities & Arts organized interactive lecture and workshop under IGMLS. The lecture was on Negative Capability: A Unique Capacity for Reflective Inaction by Dr. Anil Behal, Managing Director of ORGDYNE Training and Consulting, LLC, a Philadelphia-based firm. He has been associated with the insurance, financial services and healthcare industries in the US for more than two decades. Through this interactive lecture he enlightened the students on negative capability. The word 'Negative Capability' was coined by the famous poet John Keats in 1817 when he was only 22 years old. According to him it is a peculiar state in which a person 'is capable of being in uncertainties, mysteries, doubts, without any irritable reaching after fact and reason.' Negative Capability is a unique capacity for reflective inaction, a hard-won skill necessary in many creative and aesthetic endeavors. It provides understanding about individual, group and social behavior. It helps in enhancing creativity, innovation and challenges the very notion of reaching out for action and dispersal in the face of uncertainty and instead opens space for thinking and reflection, which is respectful to all parties concerned. It's a creative tool to help us in understanding different points of views or different cultures thus increase mutual understanding among people.
