Jagran Lakecity University has decided to start School of law from academic session 2014. For developing the courses to be offered the university invited people from industry and academics for a brainstorming session "Emerging Paradigms in Legal Education" on 7th December 2013 at its campus in Bhopal. Several eminent personalities in the legal sphere belonging to a cross section of fields, such as academics, judiciary and industry had been invited to the session to share their knowledge and experience with the Faculty at the Jagran Lakecity University.
The meeting was chaired by Justice N.K. Jain (Retd.), former Justice at the High Court of Madhya Pradesh. He stressed on the need for developing quality legal professionals who are able to apply doctrinal principles to practical legal situations and who have a strong thought process.
Other eminent personalities who addressed the session were Prof. (Dr.) S.K. Bhatnagar, Professor and Former Head & Dean at the School for Legal Studies, B.B. Ambedkar University (A Central University) at Lucknow, Mr. Jay Jethwa, barrister and solicitor of the Supreme Court, the High Court and the Federal Court of Australia and Prof. C.S. Mishra, former Head and Dean of the Faculty of Law, Barkatullah University, Bhopal.
The session brought out important points forward. It was highlighted that legal education must cater to all segments that demand legal services, including the market. Therefore it is imperative for an upcoming law college to embrace latest topics in law and encourage research in those areas. It was also stressed that digitization and technology affect the methods of legal education as much as any other sphere of life and these must be integrated into the education system of law. In the end, several interesting questions from the faculty were answered by the esteemed panel of guests.
