The Master of Arts in Journalism is a course with academic and professional orientations that can lead to careers with communication responsibilities in a broad array of domains – journalism, corporations, professional associations, media industries, arts and community groups, NGOs, government, education – or to further study and research in the Media and Communication Ph.D. program.
Studying journalism opens doors to a range of careers where your creativity, writing, communication and research skills are invaluable. If your aim is to work directly within journalism, it's vital that you build up a portfolio of work and gain as much relevant experience as possible. Working on a student newspaper, campus magazine or campus radio station will be helpful. You could also start your own blog to develop your writing style and interview techniques. Take advantage of any work placements on your course to gain experience and make contacts within the industry. You could also find opportunities by contacting print production houses, radio outlets, magazines and newspapers. Show an enthusiasm for their subject matter and ask if they have any work experience schemes. Writing voluntarily for websites, print publications or other media outlets will also add to your portfolio and display your skills.
Eligibility Criteria: Graduation with minimum 50% or an equivalent qualification in any discipline from an institute affiliated to a university or any university recognised by UGC. The Selection of candidate will be made based on their academic meri, JLU entrance exam and performance in the Personal Interview round.
